A guide to your options

Colour, clarity and a clean finish for your signage

Acrylic is a rigid plastic used for cut letters, logos, panels and light-diffusing sign faces. Clear acrylic creates a glass-like look; opaque colours create solid branding; opal and suitable translucent colours allow light to pass through. These choices affect both the daytime appearance and the result when illuminated.

Materials & construction

The range is predominantly cast acrylic, with gloss, matt or other specialist finishes depending on colour. Thicknesses vary across the range: common coloured sheets are available in 3mm and 5mm, with thicker options for selected colours and applications. Opal acrylic extends to 30mm for specialist illuminated lettering.

Plan the details

Not every acrylic colour transmits light well. Dark and opaque finishes may suit halo illumination better than face illumination. Mirror acrylic is recommended for indoor use because its reflective backing can deteriorate outdoors. Screen colours are a guide only; use a physical sample where colour matching matters.

Your questions, answered

Is acrylic the same as Perspex?

Perspex is a brand of acrylic. The appropriate brand and grade will be selected for the agreed colour, thickness and application.

Will my chosen colour light up?

Some colours transmit light, while others block it. Tell us whether you want face, halo or no illumination so we can check the material choice.

Can you match a brand colour?

We can compare available materials and finishing options with your brand reference. A physical sample is the best way to approve a critical colour.
