Illuminated Fret-Cut Sign Trays

Fret-cut trays combine a solid fascia with illuminated lettering and logos. The design is cut through the tray face and backed with acrylic, allowing selected parts of your branding to light up after dark.

A guide to your options

Let your lettering shine through the fascia

The tray face is routed to form your lettering or logo apertures. Acrylic fills or backs those openings, while internal LEDs provide illumination where specified. It is a useful approach when you want a single fascia panel with a controlled contrast between the background and the lit design.

Materials & construction

The construction combines aluminium composite with acrylic details. Recessed acrylic sits behind the face; a flush finish brings the detail close to the face; raised acrylic projects forward. A complete illuminated version includes a backing tray and LED arrangement.

Choose the finish that fits

Recessed detail

Acrylic bonded behind the cut face for a restrained appearance.

Near-flush detail

5mm opal details finishing close to the tray face.

Raised detail

10mm opal details projecting approximately 5mm beyond the face.

Plan the details

Allow at least 3.5mm stroke width in routed apertures; sharp points and fine detail may need adjustment. The available construction has a single-piece limit of 3000 × 1480mm including returns, subject to the selected sheet. Larger trays need planned joints. We check colour transmission and lighting depth against the design.

Your questions, answered

Can you replace only an existing lightbox face?

A face-only tray may be possible, subject to measurements and inspection of the existing structure and lighting.

Why does tray depth matter?

LEDs need space to spread light before it reaches the acrylic. A shallow tray can make individual bright spots more visible.

Can the lettering be coloured?

Suitable acrylic or applied translucent graphics can change the colour. The choice needs checking with illumination, not just in daylight.
