Rimless letters create a strong, three-dimensional identity for shopfronts and commercial interiors. Choose face illumination, a halo glow, both effects together, or an unlit finish to suit the brand and building.

A guide to your options
Bold built-up lettering with a clean acrylic face
An acrylic face is joined to shaped aluminium returns without a visible retaining rim around its front edge. The construction gives the sign depth while leaving the letter face visually clean. It is especially useful for larger lettering and logos.
Materials & construction
The standard construction uses a 5mm acrylic face and 60mm-deep returns formed from 0.6mm aluminium. Return colours can be selected from the standard range or vinyl wrapped where a closer match is required. The backing construction changes with the illumination style.

Choose the finish that fits
01
Face illumination
The front face lights up; a foam PVC back tray supports the construction.
02
Halo illumination
An acrylic back and stand-off mounting create a glow behind the letter.
03
Face and halo
Front and rear illumination can use different acrylic colours for contrasting effects.
Plan the details
Acrylic colour affects light transmission. Some dark faces require a halo approach, while light-blocking treatments control unwanted face illumination. Fine lettering below the recommended stroke may be better suited to 30mm acrylic letters. The wall finish, stand-off and cable routing also affect the result.

Your questions, answered
What does rimless mean?
The acrylic face meets the aluminium returns without a visible trim around the front edge.
Can the face and halo be different colours?
Yes. Suitable acrylic colours and lighting arrangements can produce different front and rear effects, subject to the design.
Can small text be made in this style?
We recommend a 25mm minimum stroke. Smaller or finer text may work better in solid acrylic illuminated lettering.
