Trough Lights for Signage

A trough light illuminates the face of a sign from above, making it an option for fascias, panels and lettering that do not contain their own lighting. It can support a new sign or form part of an existing shopfront upgrade.

A guide to your options

Light the sign you already have

The slimline fitting sits above the signage and directs light onto the surface. This creates a different effect from face-lit letters or a lightbox: the sign remains a solid object, with external light revealing its graphics and finish.

Materials & construction

A traditional slimline trough fitting is mounted above the sign. The housing, finish, length, light source and mounting arrangement should be confirmed for the selected model. Norgroup can review these against the size and position of the fascia.

Choose the finish that fits

New fascia lighting

Add an external lighting arrangement to a new panel or tray.

Existing sign upgrade

Review whether an existing unlit sign can be illuminated effectively.

Coordinated appearance

Select the fitting position and finish around the frontage.

Plan the details

The throw of the light, distance from the face and depth of any letters affect coverage and shadows. Share a night photograph if possible. Electrical supply, cable routes and access for maintenance should be checked before installation.

Where it works

  • Unlit sign trays
  • Flat fascia panels
  • Raised-letter fascias
  • Shopfront lighting upgrades

Your questions, answered

Does a trough light sit inside the sign?

No. It is mounted above the sign and directs light onto its face.

Can it be added to an existing fascia?

Potentially. We need to review the sign position, wall, available fixing space and electrical supply.

What length or power rating do I need?

That depends on the sign dimensions and selected fitting. We will confirm the product specification as part of the quotation.
