Engraving laminate is designed for readable labels, nameplates and information signs. Laser engraving removes the surface colour to reveal a contrasting core, creating text and symbols within the material itself.

A guide to your options
Two colours. Clear, lasting identification.
This acrylic-based plastic has a thin coloured surface over a thicker contrasting base. The engraved areas reveal the base colour, making it useful for consistent identification across rooms, equipment and facilities. It is a different finish from a printed label or applied vinyl.
Materials & construction
The specified laminate is 1.6mm thick and semi-rigid. It can remain flat or follow a simple curve in one direction. Colour names describe the surface first and the exposed engraving colour second: white/black, for example, produces black engraving on a white face.

Plan the details
Standard colours can be specified for exterior use, but metallic finishes are not guaranteed outdoors. The mounting surface and environment determine the fixing method. For small text, a simple typeface and generous stroke width will help preserve legibility.

Which colour becomes the lettering?
The second colour in the finish name is the core revealed by engraving. White/black gives a white background with black text.
