Repair where practical

The visible fault may not show the condition of the complete sign

A dark letter, loose panel or damaged face can result from failed illumination, water ingress, wiring, fixings or physical damage. Access and internal condition must be assessed before a repair is confirmed.

Norgroup can review suitable existing signs, including installations originally supplied by other companies, but repairability depends on construction and available components.

  2. 2

    Review access and supportability

Assess likely construction, height, components and site restrictions.

  3. 3

    Arrange inspection where needed

Survey the sign safely and identify the probable repair route.

  4. 4

    Prepare the quotation

Define access, components, repair assumptions and exclusions.

  5. 5

    Complete approved work

Repair or replace suitable parts and test applicable illumination.

  6. 6

    Report remaining concerns

Identify further deterioration or replacement priorities.

Repair versus replacement

Consider age, water ingress and access cost

A small failed component can be economical to repair, but repeated access or widespread deterioration may make replacement the better long-term option.

  • Overall sign age
  • Extent of water ingress
  • Availability of compatible components
  • Condition of faces, returns and fixings
  • Access equipment cost
  • Likelihood of further failures
